This week, I'm sad to say has been kind of blah. Not a whole lot of fun, exciting things going on. Evidently my chocolate intake hasn't been sufficient to keep me up and happy! :)
However, I will report that the new kitchen cabinet doors were put on, and new handles installed. I kinda hate them. I really do. Lane chose them and through some crazy temporary lack of judgement, didn't ask me what I wanted. I'm sorry, was he under the impression that he rules the kitchen? I think not! :) But, apparently, his queer eye for the straight guy side was coming out, and he chose these totally contemporary handles that don't at all match the rest of the house. Oh well. I'll let you decide when I post pictures with the completed cabinets, because the top trim is still MIA, as well as my bathroom cabinets and sinks! I am sick of having to use the powder room to brush my teeth and wash my face at night, but I'll be thrilled when we have our new cabinets and counters that aren't midget height! :)
So on to some random ramblings. . .
My week was kinda messed up starting with a Tuesday morning text from the pre-school teacher saying her kid was puking and pre-school was cancelled. Addi had been dying to go to school all through spring break, and was sooooo excited to go. I had to let her down and say there was no school, but don't worry, we would go on Thursday. Well, Thursday came and our pre-school was cancelled again!!! Well, Addi wasn't having any of that. She was soooo mad. I have to say, I was mad too, because I play tennis on Thursdays, and couldn't find anyone to watch her, so I had to have someone play for me, and we went and watched. :(
By Friday morning, Addi had her backpack packed and ready, and she told me she was going to school. I had to let her know Friday isn't school, we go to the gym on Fridays. She was very upset and insisted she was going to school. I had to explain the best I could that her teacher couldn't do pre-school and we were going to the gym instead where she would have lots of fun.
Then from the back seat of the car I hear, "OK - THAT'S IT!!! YOU ARE THE MEANEST MOM IN THE WHOLE WORLD! YOU WON'T LET ME GO TO SCHOOL!" I wanted to burst out laughing, but held it in and said, "What?" She repeats , "That's it!!! you are so so so mean mom!"
So, I guess no mother of the year this week.
Course, she had changed her mind by Friday night when I took the kids to see Tangled in 3-D. Lane was at the Suns' game, and I didn't want to sit home with the kids, so we went to the movie. Gotta love the dollar movies - though they charge you $4 a kid for the dang 3-D movies!
How's this for a Friday night date?
Saturday morning dawned sunny and beautiful. Perfect for a 30 mile bike ride and 1/2 mile swim with my friend Lisa. Love those friend bonding times! :)
I also got all domestic when I got home and decided to make some homemade bread. Yum! Too bad I forgot I had a YW broadcast with Kayla at 5. The bread was rising and I had to leave! So, I left instructions with Lane (who should be savvy in the kitchen - seeing as he picked the handles! :) to put the bread in the oven and set the timer. He did, and this is what we got.
Oops! Note - remove the rack on top of the bread you are putting in, because the bread rises in the oven while baking! Ugh! However, it tastes sooooo good, so if you just don't look at the little burned indent from the rack above, you would thoroughly enjoy this bread! :)
Ended the week with a hot date with Lane seeing Limitless last night. I decided I could watch Bradley Cooper all day :). The movie was pretty good too - although quite "trippy".
A little side note - Lane has been feeling pretty good after his 2nd round of this chemo. We are so glad about that. Four more rounds to go! He is truly a trooper.
So here's to a good week full of aerobics, tennis, lessons, kids, piano, and of course . . . chocolate. :)
